India: Jewels that Enchanted the World, billed as the most comprehensive exhibition of Indian jewelry ever staged, has gone on display in the State Museums of Moscow Kremlin.

Christie's Jewelry Sale Raises $60.6 Million

Christie's reported sales of $60.6 million at its New York auction of magnificent jewels, with the auction being 82 percent sold by lot.

The main item was a pair of circular-cut, D, internally flawless diamonds weighing 22.60 carats and 22.31 carats that were bought for $8,565,000.

Other leading jewelry items included a 40.43-carat, D, potentially flawless, oval-cut diamond bought for $7,669,000, or $189,700 per carat.

Orange Diamond Sells for Record $35.5 Million at Christie’s in Geneva

The largest fancy vivid orange diamond ever offered for sale at auction, weighing in at 14.82 carats, was sold at Christie’s in Geneva on November 12 for a record $35,540,612, or $2.4 million per carat.
 
The sale of the rare gem set a world record price per carat for any diamond sold at auction, as well as a world record price for an orange diamond.
 
Christie’reported that its Magnificent Jewels auction raised a record $125,360,131, selling 89 percent by lot and 96 percent by value.
 

Varda Shine To Leave De Beers in January

De Beers says that Varda Shine, Executive Vice President of Global Sightholder Sales, will be stepping down and leaving the company at the end of January 2014.
 
Shine, formerly the Managing Director of the Diamond Trading Company in London, is the most senior De Beers official not to move to Botswana.
 
Paul Rowley, Senior Vice President of Midstream Operations for Global Sightholder Sales, succeeds Shine as Executive Vice President.
 

Pandora to Open 1,000th Store in Paris

Jewelry maker and retailer Pandora will open its 1,000th store on October 23 - an outlet in Paris.
 
The store is in the Beaugrenelle shopping mall, the second-biggest shopping center in Paris and close to the Eiffel Tower.
 
Pandora says the location will ensure plenty of foot-traffic to the store, since around seven million people go up the Eiffel Tower annually and many more walk past the tower.
 
Pandora's Eiffel Tower charm is the best-selling charm in France, and among the best-selling charms globally.

Diamond Necklace With $55M Price Tag Going on Sale at Trade Show in Singapore

The world's most expensive diamond necklace will be on sale at Singapore's JewelFest show in October, and with an estimated price of $55 million buyers are likely to be few and far between.
 
The jewelry item, called L'Incomparable, is set with a large yellow stone often called 'The Golden Giant' suspended from a rose gold setting with 90 other white diamonds and weighs a total of 637 carats .
