U.S. jewelry retailer, Samuels Jewelers, says comparable jewelry store sales for the nine-week holiday season were up 8.4 percent on the year, boosted by an 11.2-percent increase in December.
The retailer, which operates 104 retail jewelry stores in 22 states, said the holiday season started with a record-breaking Black Friday, resulting in an 18-percent comparative sales gain over the last two years.
“Our performance is primarily due to improved field execution and effective promotions," says Gitanjali Retail USA Chief Operating Officer Michael Feinman. "Importantly, we enhanced our store merchandising.”.
He said sales were helped by the introduction of its new Italian brands and its new 97- facet Brilliant Fire diamond.
The company said sales were also boosted by store improvements giving a more contemporary appeal.
Gitanjali Retail USA operates stores under the trade names Andrews Jewelers, Rogers Jewelers, Samuels Jewelers, Samuels Diamonds and Schubach Jewelers.
Samuels Jewelers' comparable jewelry store sales for the holiday season are considerably higher than those reported earlier this month by major jewelry retailers Zale Corp, Signet Jewelers and Tiffany & Co of 2.3 percent, 4.7 percent and 4.0 percent, respectively.
