Lucara Diamond Corp finds two rare blue diamonds at Karowe mine

Lucara Diamond Corp has discovered two rare blue diamonds at its Karowe mine in Botswana.

One of the diamonds weighs 4.77 carats, and the other 0.2 carats.

"Options for the sale of the stones are currently being investigated," the company says in a media statement.

Lucara late last year sold a 9.46-carat blue diamond from the Karowe mine for US$4.5 million.

Lucara Chief Executive Officer William Lamb said, ''The recovery of the 4.77-carat blue diamond brings the total number of blue diamonds recovered in the past few months to four. The re-occurring recovery of these exceptionally rare and sought-after stones is highly significant and confirms the quality of the diamonds produced from the Karowe mine.''

Lucara has two operations –  the fully owned Karowe mine, and the 75-percent owned Mothae project in Lesotho where trial mining has been completed.
